This was my first session with horses and it was such a great experience. I forgot how big they are until I was standing next to Claire's female horse Lola (the darker colored one) - I am not sure how tall she actually is but she felt 8 feet tall to me! Winston and Lola were so regal in the way they carried themselves and I tried to capture that in the images. Claire also just got a new puppy so we just had to take some shots of the adorable little guy! Take a look at our session below...

Here is my family session with the Vaughn's last month. We had the beautiful backdrop of an old store (over 150 years old) that is on the property they own, I was so jealous! I just got home from an awesome trip with my husband and friends in Puerto Vallarta. While I am still downloading, tweaking and adjusting most of the images I had to work on this one first. I think it may be one of my favorites! We were on a tour of the city and this was a little village we stopped off in for lunch, all 4 of us decided to wander around the area instead of eating with the group which after our previous stop at the Tequila Distillery probably wasn't the smartest idea, but we wanted to soak in more of the local area around us. I'm so glad we did, we found a lot of great stuff.

This is an HDR image I took some weeks ago of the St. Louis Art Museum and the St. Louis Statue. I love taking HDR images at dusk, the colors are so much more vibrant and the lighting on buildings turns out so cool! You can even make a photograph of your house look like artwork (I know I did!).

Happy New Year! I had a wonderful 2009 and I am hoping for an even better 2010 - I have a lot in store so check back in from time to time and see what's new!

The weekend before Christmas I met up with Tom and Kendra to shoot their engagement in Forest Park. It was one of our first really really cold weekends in St. Louis but they powered through and took off their coats for each shot! It's been a while!

It's been a full month since I last posted, I feel like I've neglected my blog! A lot has happened in that time. First my wonderful sister who is going to school to become a graphic designer/web designer designed a new website to showcase my work! You can check it out here.

Secondly, StrangeFolk came and went and it went better than I ever imagined. I was able to meet a lot of folks who are interested in photo sessions.

I will be in another show in December called "Big A$$ Indie Art and Craft Show" located in the Mad Art Gallery in downtown St. Louis. Show dates are December 4th, 5th and 6th. Check out the link for more information!

Let's see what else... I had an engagement photo session a couple weekends ago and I will be posting those images here in the next couple of days. I also spent some time last weekend shooting in a "secret location" in Missouri, I got some beautiful fall shots and I will be posting those soon as well. Look for more posts in the following days!

My friend Marissa has this spectacular property that she shares with family and every holiday weekend I have the privilege of hanging out with her and her family to just relax and unwind. We had a little too much rain this past weekend but that didn't stop us from having fun, the rain caused the creeks to get really high and we decided that made for a perfect photo op!

Strange Folk Festival

I'm very excited to be apart of the 3rd annual Strange Folk Festival. Strange Folk is the Heartland’s largest outdoor indie arts and crafts show. They are featuring 125 vendors from across the country along with plenty of eco-freindly craft activities, exhibits, live bands, and local cuisine under a canopy of beautiful trees! Over 10,000 folks attended last year, and Strange Folk was declared “BEST OF 2008″ in the craft show category by The Riverfront Times.

"Think Different" was a poem which was used in Apple's brand campaign from 1997-2002 says in a nutshell why I am such a loyalist to this brand. I thought a quick little post on Apple was the least I could do to show my respect for the company.

Think Different.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.

Maybe they have to be crazy. How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Firworks in Mason, MI

While up in Michigan over the 4th visiting my family we were able to see a very nice fireworks display. Here are some of my better shots from the evening. This was my first time shooting fireworks and I had no idea what to expect. I took some from the field then I went over to the corndog stand and took some more with the stand in the foreground. The cars you see were from the car show earlier in the day... some very nice cars came out.

So I was just up in Michigan visiting family over the 4th and on the way home off the side of the IL interstate was Herbie! I had to drive to the next exit, turn around and drive back a couple miles then pull off the highway to see him. Oh but that is not all! I also had to walk through very tall grass/weeds that I was certain contained snakes... but being the photographer I am :) I did it anyway! I hope you enjoy these images. I will post my 4th of July images soon, I got some nice firework shots.

Totally Rad Actions is a lifesaver for me, I use it for a lot of my photoshop work. I became aware of them while following a wedding photographer's blog and she always talked highly of them. They have a sample recipe page which showcases ideas and I just happened to stumble on one of my images being used! That is just totally rad! :)

You may have noticed the dog on my avatar, that is my 'son' Cooper. I actually just purchased a book that I am reading called PhoDOGraphy, I love animals and thought learning how to photograph them well would be a good benefit for my personal images and anyone who might be interested in some nice shots of their beloved pet! Baby Shower for Liam!

I just got done co-hosting a baby shower for my friend Jenna. We went all out... invites, diaper cake, custom made onesies, you name it! We had so much fun, can't wait to do it again! I wanted to share with everyone how everything turned out. This whole theme revolved around the invitations that I had designed, keep that in mind next time you are looking for a invitation design, I can also expand that idea into the theme of the party!

Here is the invitation that went in the mail.

These next few shots are of the diaper cake we made, I must say, it's not as hard as it looks to make!

I made her some custom onesies and hung them from a clothsline in my kitchen over the area that had all of the food.

"Liam for President. 2052." Trust me, this is VERY possible of happening!

"Made in Mexico". We went to Mexico last fall, right around the time she got pregnant, you do the math! :)

"Mom's Lucky Charm" Jenna is of Irish decent, so I had to make an Irish onesie!

"Daddy's Little Caddy" His dad LOVES golfing, it only seemed fitting.

The folk's over at Heaven Scent Bakery in O'Fallon took my crude drawing and made this cake. It tasted as good as it looked!
These washcloths turned out beautiful, you get to pick out your color washcloth and your style fabric and she makes them and ships them in record time! You can check out her Etsy here The Freckled Elephant

Of course we also had to have personalized silverware!

These were how the favor gifts were wrapped. As you may have already guessed, I love blue and brown so I got anything blue/brown that I could get my hands on to decorate with!

I am having a lot of fun giving some of my older images a new look - or a old look - depending on how you see it. I think I will start an area in my esty shop showing off these creations for anyone who loves vintage. I am also looking into taking some of my prints and varnishing them onto wood for some homemade framing that lends itself to the look of my images. I'll post photos of what I create!

I just returned from a trip to Memphis and we spent some time on Beale Street. I was able to get a few images taken, I really wanted to take some night shots but with no tripod and the streets getting too busy at night, that idea fell through. 2009 Calendars are Here!

I hope you have a special someone in your life who would love to look at these cars each month. Each shot was taken in HDR format which gives the full range of textures in the shadows and highlights. I took each shot with a Canon 40D DSLR camera. Then scanned into Photoshop and adjusted.

Every page has has been printed the same GLOSSY premium Fuji Crystal Archive paper and chemistry that my other prints are printed on. Each month measures 4" x 6" and they all sit in a clear jewel case for display. The jewel case also can be used as storage for the prints. Included is 13 pages, the cover and 1 page for each month in 2009.

This will make a perfect Christmas present for the car lover in your family. They work perfectly in a study or office or you can take them out of the case and place them on your fridge... whatever strikes your fancy :)
